Do you know where the Harvard Club is?

(Enter mid-conversation)

Well, do you know where the Harvard Club is?

No, Uncle Herbie, I don't.

The Algonquin?

No, I don't.
Is there a cross street or an avenue in this description for where the restaurant is located?
(I hear laughter.)

Should I mention some other places where you won't know the location?

No, thank you, I think I'm done now.
He's still laughing.
Gooooood Byyyyye Uncle Herbie. I love you.
He's still laughing.

Good-bye.

We hang up.

I have lost my cosmopolitan edge.
I wondered how many people could pass this social test.

I have dinner with Jeff.
I tell him the story.
He knows every location.
I am impressed.

Carolee is going to a special opening at the Whitney at
the new location -  downtown.
I tell her that I hope she enjoys herself and the new Barbara Kruger exhibit on the roof.

CS: How do you know that? I don't know that and I'm invited!
EC: I read it. I don 't remember where, maybe the NY Times?
We move on to another topic.
Maybe I still have a little bit of NYC in me?

The Information Age is troubling.
How do we know what we know?
And why do we know it?
And who has access to it?

xoxo,
Bob's Daughter
